[TUTORIAL][SETUP] CentOS 6 VPS setup guide for RSPeer

  • Contributor Script Writer

    Follow this video: https://youtu.be/oGZ4rPsIO_k
It's unedited, and my VPS might be slower than yours, so you can skip through the long install times.

    Commands used in video:

    1. yum -y groupinstall Desktop

    2. yum -y install gnome-core xfce4 firefox

    3. yum -y install tigervnc-server

    4. chkconfig vncserver on

    5. vncpasswd
Set a password after the prompt

    6. service vncserver restart

    7. pkill vnc

    8. nano /root/.vnc/xstartup
Go to bottom of the file, put a # before twm &
At the bottom of the file, add this line: exec gnome-session &

    9. reboot

    if Java isn't installed:

    1. Check this by running: java -version. It should show currently installed version, or give an error.

    2. To install java: yum -y install java-1.8.0-openjdk

    3. nano rspeer.sh
Copy the the lines on the download page according to your OS, like I did.
Paste them in the terminal window, press CTRL + X, then press Y, and finally press Enter.

RSPeer should install automatically after these steps, and it should pop up in https://bot.rspeer.org/

Finally, after doing all that, run:

    1. sh rspeer.sh

If you get a 'cannot resolve host' error:

    1. nano /etc/resolv.conf

Add following lines to the file:
    nameserver 8.8.8.8
    nameserver 8.8.4.4

Press CTRL + X, then press Y, and finally press Enter.

    1. sh rspeer.sh

  • Thanks for this tutorial!

  • Director

    Great stuff!

  • Thanks for the guide! Running into one error unfortunately. When trying to edit nano /root/.vnc/xstartup I'm getting a blank file, scrolling through the pages/lines shows nothing.

  • Thank u doggie
